We expect to see continued growth in pharmacy automation budgets, as a
majority of hospitals predict an increase in their automation spending
for both the shortand long-term.
•Not surprisingly, automation budgets are relative to facility size.
•Pharmacy has seen significant growth in automation spending this year. The percentage of hospitals spending over $200,000 has increased to 44%, while the number of hospitals without an automation budget has decreased to a mere 9%. Just as technology implementations such as CPOE, BCMA, and smart pumps are increasing, so is automation spending.
•The trend toward higher spending is projected to continue, as a majority of hospitals expect their budgets to increase next year.
•Taking a longer-term view, an even greater majority of hospitals expect to spend more on automation than they do now.
