Increase Savings with Strong Financial Management Principles

As we approach mid-year, many institutions are looking for ways to stretch every dollar and build sensible practices for ongoing financial management. Pharmacy Purchasing & Products has seen the results of tightened budgets and spending scrutiny in hospital pharmacies. In this month’s issue, we cover several topics that directly, and indirectly, affect pharmacy costs. From recruiting and staffing to evaluating your outsourced compounder, PP&P is your ally in today’s difficult economy. Our cover story on automating revenue integrity programs provides several examples of projects you can begin today to positively impact your pharmacy’s bottom line.

As we do every year, PP&P is surveying hospital pharmacies nationwide to learn about current budgeting practices and automation spending. We will report this data to you in our annual State of Pharmacy Automation issue in August. The State of Pharmacy Automation survey is a key benchmarking tool for hospital pharmacies planning their automation budget allocations. All reader feedback is important to us, so if you receive one of our survey emails, please take the time to fill it out. The results of our surveys create an invaluable resource for all our readers.

As summer approaches, and we gear up for the Summer ASHP show outside Chicago this year, we look forward to meeting you, and getting to know what issues you are challenged by and what approaches have improved your practice. Please stop by our booth (#818) at the show and say hello.

All the best,

R. Mitchell Halvorsen
