Enteral System for NICU Feeding

Baxa announces the launch of an awareness campaign for its NeoThrive enteral feeding system. The system provides neonatal intensive care units a distinct "enteral only" orange coloring and a specialty connector to eliminate the risk of serious IV line misconnections. Together with the NeoThrive enteral pump, the Baxa system provides a dedicated enteral system that combines visual cues and clear identification to ensure the safety of enteral connections for NICU feeding. The system includes the NeoThrive enteral syringes, which will not mate to standard luer connections, preventing connection to an IV line. In addition, the NeoThrive enteral pump functions only with NeoThrive syringes, preventing the use of an IV syringe for enteral feeding.

Counting Technology


Innovation Associates announces the next generation of its PharmASSIST SmartCabinet counting technology. The new version offers a high-resolution, touch-screen display, a tuck-away keyboard and mouse drawer, and 46 independently operating tablet and capsule dispensers, which count prescriptions simultaneously. The counting technology maintains a footprint of three square feet, an individual dispenser capacity of 800cc, on-site dispenser calibration, and computer controlled, locked hopper doors.

Wireless Temperature Monitoring

Veriteq Instruments announces a new version of its viewLinc wireless temperature monitoring and alarming system for hospital and pharmaceutical environments. Using triple-recording redundancy, viewLinc installs easily on any standard existing network, requiring no dedicated network, extraneous wiring, or outsourced IT for installation. One new feature is the ability to generate and email reports automatically. Reports on alarm history, temperature data, statistics, and more are sent to personnel on a user-determined schedule.

RFID Asset Tracking Labels


Lexmark introduces enhancements to its RFID solution, giving customers an alternative to track and access their assets and information with real-time visibility. Combining RFID technology with laser printing, Lexmark's RFID UHF option is designed as an add-on accessory for its T654 monochrome laser printer, allowing for fast printing of RFID label media.

Spanish Auxiliary Labels

Medi-Dose/EPS introduces a wide line of Spanish pharmacy and nursing auxiliary labels. The labels measure 3/8" x 1 " and are brightly colored, containing easily identifiable graphics. When used with Mini-LiquiDose labels and MILT 3.0 software, pharmacists and nurses can design their own auxiliary labels. Bar codes, graphics, special fonts, TALLman lettering, shapes, and logos can all be included on the labels.

Online Influenza Immunization Resource


The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) has launched an initiative for pharmacists to improve influenza immunization rates among health care workers. ASHP's new online resource, www.youcanstoptheflu.com, was developed by a panel of pharmacist immunization experts to engage pharmacists as advocates to improve seasonal influenza immunization rates of health care workers in their health systems. The site features a resource center with links to recommendations and updates from the CDC and The Joint Commission, as well as list-serves to keep pharmacists informed about the latest immunization trends and vaccine shortages.
