Syringe Labeling System
Codonics introduces the Safe Label System (SLS) to help improve syringe preparation workflow by automatically printing full color labels anywhere syringes are prepared. SLS medication labels include TJC required elements and comply with ASA color/content guidelines. Simply scan a drug vial and the SLS unit will check the hospital’s formulary to ensure the drug is properly indicated for use. It will then provide both visual and audible confirmation (or rejection) of the medication name and strength (concentration), and will automatically print a ready-to-apply label for the syringe. Each label includes a configurable data-rich bar code that can be used to integrate into an anesthesiology information management system (AIMS) or a broader hospital information system. The SLS is an FDA-approved Class II device.

IV Bag Port SealsHealth
Care Logistics introduces Belly Button Bag Port Seals – sterile, tamper-evident seals for admixture ports on IV bags, bottles, and vials that help protect against contamination and accidental double dosing. Automated Waste Management
CareFusion announces the new Pyxis EcoStation, a proprietary, automated waste management system designed to help hospitals identify, classify, sort, and segregate pharmaceutical waste. The EcoStation also provides waste records to facilitate tracking and regulatory controls. Featuring scan-to-dispose technology, the system integrates by linking to the hospital’s pharmacy information system (PIS) and identifies pharmacy-created and original manufacturer package bar codes, which are codified into specific waste streams. By automating the identification and sorting of different types of residual drugs, empty containers, and a hospital’s unique admixtures, Pyxis EcoStation system helps eliminate the human error and potential cross contamination inherent in manual sorting of pharmaceutical waste.
