PP&P: Are You a Part of It?

When we launched Pharmacy Purchasing & Products five years ago, the idea for a magazine containing practical purchasing guidance was not new; after all, Consumer Reports had been around for years. However, the concept was new to the hospital pharmacy marketplace, and fortunately, PP&P was readily embraced by directors of pharmacy as a useful source for purchasing and implementation guidance. Our success in bringing you this information continues today.

In each issue of PP&P , you’ll find the kinds of articles we are known for – direct, concise features that provide step-by-step direction for meeting and exceeding the goals of your department and overall facility. You already know that issues like patient safety, workflow efficiency, and cost savings are important to your institution; PP&P  helps you clear a straight path toward those objectives.

This month, we’re pleased to bring you:
•A review of the recently published revisions to USP <797> (page 18)
•Methods for selecting the right Smart Pumps for your facility (page 10)
•Guidance for establishing standardized CPOE order sets (page 2)
•Tips for the safe and effective use of Premixed IV Products (page 34)

Simply put, our magazine helps you identify products and services that can improve your processes, as well as implement them effectively. The sum of our success is measured in the contributions of our authors, who take active part in PP&P ’s mission by sharing their expertise with you each month.

So one question remains: Are you a part of it yet? Join us in advancing the practice of hospital pharmacy by requesting a subscription today. Visit www.pppmag.com/subscribe or use the reader service card bound in this issue to ensure you never miss an issue of this valuable resource!

All the best,

R. Mitchell Halvorsen
