Pharmaceutical Waste Management System
EcoRex NS is a fully automated system designed to help health care facilities meet federal regulations for pharmaceutical waste handling. EcoRex NS uses bar code technology and a regularly updated database of more than 140,000 NDC numbers to instantly categorize waste medicines. The modular station is configured to the number, types, and volume of waste streams in specific hospital areas. By automating the identification and sorting of pharmaceutical waste, EcoRex NS can reduce the cost, labor utilization, and human error associated with manual sorting methods, while helping to prevent the
introduction of pharmaceuticals into the water supply.

The system includes CPOE with color-coded drug-to-drug and drug-to-allergy interaction alerts; automated facility E&M (evaluation and management) level determination to decrease variability, optimize revenue capture, and allow nurses to focus on patient care; and a patient-flow tracking dashboard to help staff identify bottlenecks, improve patient throughput, and decrease ED lengths of stay.

Oral Dispensers
EPS’s new, latex-free oral dispensers are available in 1-, 3-, 5-, and 10-mL sizes and in clear or ultraviolet-inhibitive amber. The dispensers’ one-piece plunger slides easily through the barrel, and the tip design facilitates oral and topical dispensing and prohibits acceptance of hypodermic needles. A low-capacity tip reservoir reduces residual content to ensure accurate medication delivery. EPS oral dispensers can be capped with standard or “wagon wheel” caps, which provide a base for standing dispensers on a counter top. The dispensers can be labeled using EPS’s LiquiDose Butterfly and Mini LiquiDose labels, and can be bar coded using Medi-Dose’s MILT 3.0 software.

Medication Administration System
By delivering medication decision support to the point of care, InformMed’s pac2 system can ensure safe dose calculation, recall of critical medication administration guidance, and event documentation. When an order falls outside of a specified range, a warning and the proper therapeutic range for the patient class are displayed. The nurse may override the warning or change the order. When the “drug info” button is pressed, additional information is displayed, including specified drug ranges for the care area, appropriate uses for the drug, and care area-specific cautions. Via Bluetooth technology, the nurse can beam the medication event to a mobile wireless printer, and the resulting label can be placed in the patient chart to provide a record of the drug volume calculated and administered. Event records may be downloaded for analysis. The bright green, rugged pac2 device features a sealed casing, dual-thumb keypad entry, and an intuitive user interface.
InformMED
