ClinicalIQ’s informational reference map, available at www.clinicaliq.com, can assist pharmacists in understanding their state’s <797>-related laws and regulations and compounding-related CE requirements. Click any state’s colored balloon to view a summary screen detailing the state board of pharmacy’s contact info, the state’s <797> compliance status, and a link to research information, including license renewal requirements. Compliance status is indicated in three levels: direct (green), indirect (yellow), and no reference (red). “Direct” states’ laws and regulations are harmonized with <797>. “Indirect” states do not specifically cite <797>, but have laws and regulations for sterile compounding and/or parenteral nutrition. “No reference” states currently have no such laws or regulations.

Cleanroom Mop
Micronova Manufacturing’s T-Mop can be used to clean most surfaces in a compounding area. The mop has a wide cleaning surface for applying disinfectants in a sterile environment. Hazardous Drug Containment System
B. Braun launches the ONGUARD Contained Medication System, with TEVADAPTOR components manufactured by Teva Medical Ltd. The drug admixture and delivery system is designed to prevent exposure to hazardous agents, as well as needle-sticks. During compounding, the ONGUARD System can provide protection from hazardous vapors, particles, and aerosols by means of a hydrophobic 0.2-micron, sterilizing-grade membrane and an activated charcoal drug-binding matrix, while also preventing non-sterile air from entering the medication vial. ONGUARD further protects nurses during administration by preventing liquid droplets from exiting the dispensing units.
