BD creates a new alliance to help address the rising opioid crisis in acute care settings. Comprising health system and industry leaders, the alliance will expand on the key initiatives established by the recently launched BD Institute for Medication Management Excellence: opioid control and management, end-to-end IV safety, and medication availability. The initiative will focus on identifying effective ways to track controlled substances across the entire medication management process, including detecting, monitoring, and reducing drug diversion. Inaugurated in 2016, the mission of the alliance is to promote innovation in medication management through collaboration among BD, electronic health record vendors, industry thought leaders, and customers.
