CSPT Certification

Pharmacy Technician Certification Board

The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board grants compounded sterile preparation technician (CSPT) status. PTCB-certified pharmacy technicians (CPhTs) can become certified as CSPTs to further commit to medication safety; employers can incorporate the CSPT certification into career ladders for their pharmacy technicians. To apply to become a CSPT, a CPhT must either complete a PTCB-recognized sterile compounding education/training program and have 1 year of work experience in sterile compounding, or have 3 years of work experience in sterile compounding. Candidates must achieve a passing score on the CSPT exam, and a qualified supervisor must attest to their competency within a 1 year eligibility window. CSPTs are required to recertify every year to maintain an active certification and must complete 5 hours of sterile compounding CE.
