Drug Shortage Solutions

Leiters Health

Leiters, an FDA-registered 503B outsourcing provider of compounded sterile preparations, continues to closely monitor the evolving COVID-19 situation and potential health care drug shortages that may occur as a result. According to a recent survey of GPOs, commonly used drugs that are in high demand and are close to, or are already, in a shortage include those that are used for patients on ventilators, in surgery, and in various hospital departments, including sedatives (dexmedetomidine, ketamine, midazolam), analgesics (hydromorphone, fentanyl, morphine), and neuromuscular blockers (rocuronium, succinylcholine). While demand has rapidly increased, Leiters is rapidly shifting production to the most critical and requested medications that are needed by hospitals across the United States.
