Hospira introduces its Onco-Tain vial for cytotoxic products to help protect medical personnel from the risk of exposure to hazardous drugs. Each Onco-Tain vial is labeled, sealed, and reinforced with a PVC bottom. The container targets three main areas: surface protection, shatter resistance, and clarity of glass. A sheath gives extra strength and reduces breakage while acting as a barrier for any cytotoxic residue that may remain on the surface of the vial. The clear glass helps provide easy inspection, unlike opaque plastics. All cytotoxic injectables manufactured by Hospira are packaged in Onco-Tain vials.
