MEPS Real-Time introduces an RFID smart tag that helps improve the automated replenishment of kits, trays, and tackle boxes in the hospital pharmacy. Smaller than traditional RFID tags, it is easy to handle, is less intrusive, and alleviates the potential for medications to become stuck in automated and standard anesthesia carts. The new smart tag was designed to support the Intelliguard Kit and Tray Management System, which automates medication inventory management and replenishment in hospital pharmacies. The RFID smart tag is less visually obtrusive for clinicians when reading FDA-approved medication labels, fits well when placing labels onto ampules and 1 mL vials, and allows for ampules and vials to easily fit in the pockets of trays, kits, and boxes. One tag is used for all medication packaging including foil wrapped IVs, syringes, ampules, vials, and boxes.
