PEPID, a provider of developer drug data and clinical decision support resources, has added drug-indication and drug-contraindication coding to its Knowledge Base system. The enhanced coding enables health care practitioners to check drug data in a number of ways, including drug-disease, disease-drug, as well as receive warnings or alerts when a drug should not be used based on patient symptoms or conditions. The enhancements include standard nomenclature for more than 4,000 indications and contraindications that are SNOMED, ICD-9 and ICD-10 coded and cross-mapped, to ensure compatibility with any health care system.
