Avancen announces its oral PCA device, MOD (Medication On Demand), is now wireless. MODtrak software enables device programming and data tracking on any computer workstation. Data capture includes the date and time, as well as the patient-entered numeric pain score at each self-administration of medication and patient-entered pain reassessment scores. The WiFi device also records staff identification for each step of device programming, medication tray loading, bolus dosing from the device, and patient discharge from the device. Of the first 1000 patients using the device, no respiratory depression or medication diversion has been reported.
