"The roots of our pharmacist-led pain-management initiative were set 18 years ago, when we recognized the need to provide targeted pain-management services for patients with orthopedic pain. At the time, the use of combination opioid/acetaminophen products for the treatment of severe pain was widespread. The goal was to minimize use of these medications and reduce the risk of chronic acetaminophen overdose."
