Web-Based 340B Compliance Management
Cardinal Health introduces Sentinel RCM, powered by Sentry Data Systems, to enable hospitals to save money on purchases of outpatient drugs through the Federal 340B Drug Pricing Program. Sentinel RCM operates on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model and provides inventory tracking, ordering, and compliance management. It helps hospitals identify missed 340B drug dispensation and replenishment opportunities, tracks drug purchases across departments and locations, provides audit trails and reports of program activity, and captures pre-admission dispensations to eligible outpatients.

IV Antibiotic
B. Braun announces the availability of Cefotetan 1 g and 2 g in its DUPLEX Drug Delivery System. A dual-chamber, pre-filled, PVC-free, DEHP-free, and latex-free IV container, Duplex stores the drug and diluent in separate compartments until the seal is broken prior to administration. Prior to activation, it can be stored at room temperature for up to 12 months and does not require thawing. The system is also labeled with a bar code referencing the final admixture.

New Heparin Labels
Baxter announces new safety labels for Heparin Sodium Injection, USP. Designed to promote medication safety, the distinctive labels are available on the 1,000, 5,000, and 10,000 USP units/mL strengths in 1-mL vials.

IV Administration Set Storage
Baxa announces the PadLock Set Saver, an aseptic IV administration set storage solution that can be swabbed and re-used. PadLock provides a secure seal for the end of the administration set to prevent contamination when the set is not being used for infusion. The Set Saver attaches to an IV administration set to replace sterile, single-use caps; promote aseptic IV administration set disconnections, prevent touch contamination; and secure the IV line between drug administrations.

Metal Wire Utility Carts
EPS now offers a variety of metal wire utility carts, ranging in height from 36 to 72 inches. The carts can be set up as freestanding units, equipped with swivel casters for easy movement, or outfitted with up to six shelves with adjustable ledges and dividers.

Advanced Wireless Security Platform for Infusion Devices
Hospira introduces a new wireless platform for its medication infusion devices that incorporates authentication standards and encryption protocols to assist hospitals in securely transferring data and complying with patient confidentiality regulations. The new technology also provides a three-in-one wireless multi-band module for an infusion system, enabling hospitals to select any of three frequency modes for communication. The platform's security options help ensure only designated, approved hospital staff access clinical data transmitted between the devices and hospital information technology systems. Hospira currently offers this capability with the Plum A+ and Plum A+3, LifeCare PCA, and Symbiq infusion systems.

Cleanroom Mops
ITW Texwipe introduces the ClipperMop TX7102 and TX7103. These patent-pending cleanroom mops are designed to use standard 9x9-inch and 12x12-inch wipers, removing the need to qualify and inventory additional wipers or mop covers. The ClipperMop system may be used with pre-wetted, dry, or sterile wipers, and is compatible with protocols for ISO Class 3 to 8 cleanrooms and for sterile and aseptic areas. The mops utilize non-abrasive clips to fasten one or multiple wipers to the mop heads.

Thermal Labels for Liquid Medications
EPS releases a new thermal LiquiDose label for liquid packaging, available for both direct thermal and thermal transfer printers in both a 1x3-inch and a 0.875-inch-diameter size. When used with EPS's MILT 3.0 software, the labels can include bar codes, graphics, special fonts, tall-man lettering, shapes, and logos.

Point-of-Care Computing Carts
Artromick launches the NX10 Mobile Computing WorkStation, a point-of-care computing cart for bedside data management. The lightweight workstation has a 15.5x21-inch work area, a secure storage area, and accessories, including scanner holders, cup holders, mouse trays, and IV poles. The NX10 supports laptop, all-in-one PC, or thin-client solutions. With a high-resolution, 17-inch monitor, it can accommodate a variety of laptop models from manufacturers such as Dell, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Panasonic, and Toshiba, and can support thin-client brands such as Neoware and WYSE.

Flu Trays
Inviro Medical Devices announces InviroSNAP! Safety Syringe Flu Trays, designed specifically for institutions that administer flu shots in bulk. The trays contain 25 individually packaged 3-mL, 1-inch InviroSNAP! Safety Syringes and are available in case quantities, with 40 trays in a case. The patented syringes are engineered with a safety feature that retracts the needle into the barrel once the clinician pulls the plunger back.

Unit Dose Packaging System
Pearson announces the iPack T60 Unit Dose Blister Packager, a tabletop unit for repackaging bulk medications into unit dose blister packages. The thermoform unit packages 60 pills per minute and is available with a liquid fill option. The iPack T60 operates with Pearson's m:Print Bar Code Labeling Software, which allows pharmacists to verify medications through its NDC drug and image databases, run detailed packaging reports, and create unlimited label templates, featuring oneand two-dimensional bar codes and tall-man lettering. The new system will be available in January 2008.
