By all accounts, 2012 was an interesting year in the field of hospital pharmacy, and while it is natural to ponder past challenges and search for ways to avoid repeating them, this time of year always puts people in a forward-thinking frame of mind. With this concept uppermost on our own list of goals for 2013, we are excited to build on the success of our first webinar—Improving Medication Order Safety Without CPOE—by introducing the next topic on our slate: Best Practices for Outsourced Compounding.
While the impetus of this topic is obvious, it is the manner with which we approach the webinar process that we think sets us apart from other providers. Namely, we seek to foster a growing leadership forum wherein our presentations grow on the successful processes of previous iterations. We prefer a roundtable style where respective pharmacy leaders discuss the topic at hand, debate pros and cons, and seek to further the line of intellectual thought and problem solving. We hope that through this process, we can address both conceptual and practical approaches to solving (or at the very least, mitigating) the more troubling challenges facing hospital pharmacy today.
Thus, we look forward to the official announcement of our next webinar, which will feature pharmacy leaders including Eric Kastango, MBA, RPh, and Lou Diorio, RPh, as well as other well-respected pharmacy practitioners. Please keep an eye out for this coming announcement, as well as future webinar topics. If there is a concept you think would benefit from a roundtable, debate-style presentation, please drop us a note.
As always, the staff of Ridgewood Medical Media wish you and yours a healthy, productive, and positive new year.
All the best,
R. Mitchell Halvorsen
