The efficacy of recall systems was continuously tested as the number of recalls, particularly of outsourced CSPs, skyrocketed this year. Pharmacy directors were less successful in identifying all affected patients when the recalls originated with their outsourcers rather than in-house. Likewise, satisfaction with the information provided by the outsourcer to conduct the recall was lower than that for in-house recalls.
