USP <797> Compliance

April 2018 : State of Pharmacy Compounding - Vol.15 No. 4 - Page #10

Clearly, compliance is an ongoing activity, rather than an endpoint; nonetheless, there is a risk of becoming satisfied with partial compliance, rather than leading the charge to continually improve practices. Hospital pharmacy has demonstrated little improvement in self-reported <797> compliance rates over the past few years; most facilities report meeting many of the requirements, with a smaller sub-group confident that they meet all of the requirements. Conversely, awareness of the importance of compliance continues to grow as more facilities commit to conducting an annual gap analysis to ascertain their strengths and weaknesses.
