The decline in the number of recalls for generic pharmaceuticals has eased some pressures for pharmacy. Simultaneously, the ongoing exposure to recalls has left pharmacy departments adept at managing these challenges, and most pharmacy directors are confident that their processes for managing recalls are effective. Given the ongoing impact that recalls have on the provision of health care, it is not surprising that manufacturers’ quality and reliability increasingly impact purchasing decisions and vendor choice.
