One of the pleasures of upper level management is identifying leadership qualities in new and upcoming practitioners. As the old saying goes, heavy is the head that wears the crown, and that is as it should be. The pharmacy director is well aware of the expectations both placed upon pharmacy practice and self-applied by pharmacists. Thus, the director is in a unique position to help guide capable personnel into leadership roles in order to maintain a high level of quality.
As the bulk of our content in Pharmacy Purchasing & Products comes from senior-management level practitioners, that is our editorial focus, but there is much to gain when section managers, deputies, and even first- or second-year staff pharmacists read and interact with director-level material. It may not be germane to their current day-to-day duties, but eventually it will. It’s never too early (or too late!) to learn how to be a good leader.
With this in mind, we encourage you to have your staff sign up for a free account on pppmag.com/subscribe. They can choose whether they want a physical copy of the magazine, engage with digital or mobile versions, and interact with numerous additional resources, such as webinars, white papers, and more.
As with directors, access to the full suite of PP&P offerings is free of charge for all pharmacy practitioners. If you are sitting in the director’s chair, you know what it took to get there, and that you will not remain there yourself forever. Pharmacists are mindful by nature; we encourage you to be mindful of the next person to take the chair.
All the best,
R. Mitchell Halvorsen
