New at ASHP

November 2020 - Vol.17 No. 11 - Page #56

While health systems have had to quickly adapt to new processes and procedures this year, product development and technological advancements have not stopped. In fact, now more than ever, the benefits of leveraging new products and technology to accomplish short- and long-term goals in the pharmacy have become apparent. In light of that, Pharmacy Purchasing & Products has compiled some of the most notable new developments that will be virtually on display at this year’s ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting & Exhibition.

Automated Medication Delivery

The new Swisslog Healthcare Meds-To-Beds automation program can increase the number of patients that receive first-dose discharge medications and counseling delivered at the bedside. With the Relay autonomous service robot transporting medications to the bedside, the system also incorporates delivery manager chain of custody software for tracking and tracing. Further, telepharmacy services are available from PipelineRx for patient consultations and outpatient pharmacy team flexing. Benefits include increased volume and revenue in the outpatient pharmacy, improved patient experience, and decreased likelihood of medication non-adherence 30-day readmissions.

Temperature Monitoring Software

To keep pharmacy’s systems and software safe and reliable, Rees Scientific has integrated additional features into its 1021 software. The latest version provides BACnet compatibility that allows Rees Scientific to act as a BACnet server and/or a BACnet client over any TCP/IP compatible network. System users can access Rees functionality without duplicating sensors and infrastructure, and the system can read any BACnet compatible sensor while the building management system (BMS) is actively communicating with the device. It also has the ability to transfer data to and from the BMS.
