A slim majority of the smallest facilities have dedicated automation resources available. However, in the vast majority of these facilities this resource is not a full-time position.
While most pharmacy informaticist resources in hospitals with 101-200 beds are part-time, this year saw an increase in both the number of facilities adding the informaticist role for the first time and the number of facilities expanding this role to a full-time position.
Facilities with 201-400 beds are taking a mixed approach with their pharmacy informaticist role; an equal number of facilities staff this role on a part-time basis as do so on a full-time basis.
At the largest facilities, not only is the pharmacy informaticist role assigned as a full-time position, it also is typically filled by multiple people.
