Blister for Unit Dose Packaging
Medi-Dose announces deeper oval Medi-Cup blisters in its unit dose packaging line. The new blisters are designed for storage in virtually all existing medication dispensing equipment. The deeper capacity accommodates larger-sized medications, including most fish-oil tablets and AIDS medications. Produced in Medi-Dose’s green, Nultraviolet plastic, the new blisters provide the same tamper-evidence, moisture resistance, ultraviolet inhibitance, and beyond-use dating as other Medi-Dose products. The new blisters also are compatible with Medi-Dose’s MILT 3.0 labeling software.

Surveillance Tool for MDROs
TheraDoc announces that it has started beta testing a new computerized patient surveillance tool that will help hospitals monitor and manage screening programs for multi-drug resistant organisms (MDROs), such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The MDRO Compliance Manager, designed for use with TheraDoc’s Infection Control Assistant and its Expert System Platform core technology, was created to help hospitals boost compliance with screening protocols by quickly identifying patients who should be tested and those who need to be isolated in order to reduce the spread of MRSA and other drug-resistant organisms to other patients, staff, and visitors.

New Web Site for American Health Packaging
American Health Packaging announces a new, updated Web site targeting hospitals’ use of AHP’s unit dose products. With nearly 270 SKUs in its unit dose product line, AHP thought it necessary to offer quick and easy access to item numbers, NDC numbers, and other individual drug information. The new Web site will feature a quick search as well as an advanced product search feature. Ambulatory Pharmacy IVR
Smart Solutions introduces its SmartCall speech recognition and interactive voice response for ambulatory pharmacies. Speech recognition allows callers to speak when calling the system providing a patient-friendly interface to your pharmacy. Through the use of a visual voice mailbox, physician and patient messages can be viewed on a pharmacy computer.
