E. Thomas Carey, RPh, is the director of pharmacy services at SwedishAmerican Hospital in Rockford, Illinois. He is an adjunct instructor of pharmacy practice at Midwestern University at the Chicago College of Pharmacy and the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy. Thomas also works as a preceptor for pharmacy students at many universities including the St Louis College of Pharmacy, Creighton University, Drake University, and the University of Iowa. In addition to providing a weekly pharmacy news segment on the local Fox and ABC affiliate, Thomas lectures locally and nationally in related areas, including infectious disease, cardiology, medication errors prevention, hazardous medication exposure prevention and pharmacy management. Thomas received his Doctorate of Pharmacy from Creighton University in 1996.
