Fresenius Kabi announces the availability of daptomycin for injection, a generic alternative to Cubicin. The drug is available as a single-dose vial containing 500 mg per vial. Daptomycin is a lipopeptide antibacterial indicated for the treatment of complicated skin and skin structure infections and Staphylococcus aureus bloodstream infections (bacteremia), including right-sided infective endocarditis caused by methicillin-susceptible and methicillin-resistant isolates. Daptomycin is not indicated for the treatment of pneumonia.
