Avancen MOD Corporation has released SMA MOD (Scheduled Medication Administration Medication on Demand), a new oral medication administration technology designed to minimize staff exposure to COVID-19. The original bedside MOD software has been updated to enable patients to self-administer oral prescheduled daily medications. Eliminating the need for the nurse to don PPE to enter the patient room and administer a single dose of medication, the SMA MOD will reduce exposure while saving time and conserving PPE. Its WiFi component provides an audible reminder to the patient for each medication delivery time. The device collects the data associated with the medication administration including the date, time, medication name, and dose into a computerized retrievable database.
