In collaboration with the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN), ASHP has launched a Nutrition Support Certificate, which will teach the fundamental concepts related to nutrition support care for adult patients. This self-guided, online continuing education (CE) program is designed for pharmacists, physicians, and nurses, and offers 19.25 hours of CE credit. The curriculum consists of 11 educational modules that review best practices for ordering, access, preparation, and administration of nutrition support and provides an overview of potential complications that could result from enteral or parenteral nutrition. The course also covers malnutrition and requirements for adults receiving nutrition support, as well as monitoring and error reporting. Participants who successfully complete all of the modules and receive a score of 80% or higher on a 100-question comprehensive examination will receive the professional certificate.
