Rilpivirine is indicated for use in combination with other antiretroviral agents for the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection. HIV remains a chronic viral disease that, if left untreated, can progress to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). While there is currently no cure, effective antiretroviral therapy enables patients to manage the disease and live longer, healthier lives.
